A Detailed Description

About Lovewell

Nestled in a vibrant arts community, our Florida location offers dynamic musical theater programs for both juniors and teens. In these three-week theatre workshops, young artists work together to write, produce, and perform an original full-length musical.

Held in the welcoming communities of Eslöv and Lomma, this immersive international musical theater experience brings U.S. teens together with Swedish students to co-create an original production. Over three weeks, students collaborate across cultures and languages to write, produce, and perform an original international musical.

Rooted in the heartland where Lovewell first began, our Kansas musical theatre workshops give students a hands-on introduction to writing, composing, and performing original work. These week long summer theatre workshops in Hays, Concordia, Phillipsburg , guide young artists through the full creative process, culminating in a performance of their original musical. These workshops are presented with the generous support and partnership of the Dane G. Hansen Foundation.

The Lovewell Method

At the heart of every session is our signature “Lovewell Method”: a unique, interdisciplinary approach to theatre that invites students to be the creators of their own stories. Starting with a blank slate, young artists—alongside professional directors, writers, designers and musicians—co-develop characters, sets, songs and dances. This is far more than just a musical theater camp: it’s hands-on training in leadership, collaboration, creative problem solving and public performance.
By engaging deeply, students don’t just act—they produce, lead, imagine and transform.

The Lovewell Process  is guided by these Creative Principals

Listen well.

Create well.

Love well.

Workshops

Workshop participants are chosen based on quality of work as well as their desire to be a part of the program. Students, staff, parents, and teachers agree that Lovewell Workshops are demanding, intense, and challenging. This is part of what makes the Lovewell Method so effective in the way it impacts students with a new confidence in their own abilities and potential; forming deep and lasting bonds as a cultural community, and most importantly – giving voice to their own observations of the world, their feelings, and their inner wisdom.

Mission Statement

Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts exists to provide interdisciplinary, arts-based programs that empower people from all cultures and economic backgrounds to find their authentic voice through the collaborative creation and performance of an original work of theatre. We build and nurture a cultural community of artists, create innovative programs and workshops around the world, and affirm lives, enrich communities and spark creativity in every participant.
