CREATE SOMETHING THAT
HAS NEVER EXISTED BEFORE

Over two immersive weeks, adult artists from across disciplines will come together to create an original musical theatre work from the ground up. There is no pre written script. No existing score. The process begins with a blank page and the collective imagination of the ensemble, evolving through writing, composition, movement, performance, design, and collaboration. The workshop will culminate in a staged reading of the newly created musical. Join us for this brand new workshop in partnership with Institute of the Arts Barcelona

Who

This workshop, in collaboration with Institute of the Arts Barcelona, is designed for adults (18+) who are passionate about the creative process and eager to collaborate with others in the making of something entirely new.

Whether you are a writer, composer, performer, designer, director, technician, educator, student, or simply someone who feels called to create, you are welcome here. Participants arrive with a wide range of artistic backgrounds and experience levels. Some have spent years in professional training programs or working in the industry, while others are exploring a new creative path for the first time.

What unites every Lovewell participant is a willingness to contribute, listen, take risks, and engage fully in the collaborative process.

Over two weeks, you will work alongside a professional team of teaching artists and fellow creators to brainstorm, write, compose, design, and develop an original musical from the ground up. Every aspect of the work—the story, characters, music, lyrics, staging, and design—emerges from the collective imagination of the group.

Theatre is one of the most collaborative art forms in the world. Learning how to communicate ideas, support the strengths of others, navigate creative challenges, and build something larger than yourself are skills that extend far beyond the rehearsal room. They are skills for a meaningful artistic life, and for life itself.

If you are excited by the idea of creating boldly, learning from others, and helping bring a brand-new musical to life, this workshop is for you.

Details

Over the course of two intensive weeks, participants will work alongside a professional team of teaching artists to create a brand-new musical from the ground up.

Using the internationally recognized Lovewell Method™, the ensemble will engage in an ensemble-driven process of collaborative storytelling, developing every aspect of the work together. Story, characters, music, lyrics, and design concepts emerge from the collective imagination of the group, creating a truly original piece that reflects the voices in the room.

Participants will explore:

• Original musical creation

• Ensemble-driven process

• Collaborative storytelling

• Cross-disciplinary artistry

• Creative collaboration across artistic disciplines

• An international creative community

The workshop culminates in the development and public staged reading of the new musical, offering participants a rare opportunity to experience the complete creative journey from first idea to final presentation.

No two Lovewell musicals are ever the same. Every workshop creates a one-of-a-kind work that could only have been made by the artists in the room.
